Dear friends,
I can hardly believe my first season as Executive Director is already in the books! It has been a pleasure to work alongside extraordinary artists, volunteers, businesses, and community members. I hope you were able to experience many of the world-class performances that brought the Meetinghouse to life this summer.
I’m thrilled to share that next season we’ll be partnering with our neighbors at the Old Academy Building, just across the Common. They’ll be hosting and funding “Meet the Artist” conversations before many of our concerts — wonderful opportunities to hear directly from the performers. And yes, they’ve also generously offered the use of their indoor bathrooms for your convenience. (Don’t worry, our portable “luxury lounges” will still be there, too!)
On a more serious note, the Meetinghouse needs your help! You may have noticed that our steeple is leaning. After a structural assessment in March, we learned that decades of water damage have taken their toll. Urgent repairs are needed, including work on the siding, windows, shutters, fire alarm system, and, of course, the steeple itself.
We’re currently working with the New Salem Town Coordinator to apply for a matching grant for historic preservation. Every dollar we raise now will strengthen our case for funding. (Your donation shows the grant committee that our community values and supports this cherished building.) I encourage you to think of your gift in terms of both preserving the past and ensuring the future of a vibrant arts space that continues to bring people together in Western MA.
Your support — whether through a donation, attending concerts, serving on the board, or singing with QVPM — keeps the Meetinghouse thriving.
With heartfelt thanks,
Matthew Duncan, Executive Director
