Filmmakers at the Meetinghouse

 

June 3  Craig Eastman - This champion fiddler visits from L.A..  A must-see performance for those interested in fiddle music of all types…old, new, traditional, progressive, ethnic, blues, bluegrass, jazz.  Eastman will be joined by Jim Henry (guitar) and Guy DeVito (bass).  

June 8  Filmmakers at the Meetinghouse - Introduced by award winning documentary filmmaker Carlyn Saltman of New Salem, local documentary-makers will show a sample of their work and hold discussions with the audience.   

June 17  Libana - This exhilarating international touring ensemble performs songs, dances and instrumental music from around the world, especially as handed down through women’s traditions.  Libana members deftly present diverse vocal styles combined with an array of intriguing instruments.  

June 24  Quabbin Valley Pro Musica - 1794 Meetinghouse’s own chorus will perform music of Bruckner, Bernstein and the premiere of a work written by conductor Adam Bergeron.   

July 8  Epic Brass - This dynamic Boston-based chamber quintet is known for its varied repertoire.  Members are accomplished performers who also supply an array of original and innovative arrangements.  

July 15  Gypsy Wranglers - Come celebrate New Salem Old Home Day.  Swinging, bluesing and jazzing on fiddle, guitar, accordion, trombone and bass, this group has something for everyone.  Their music is a blend of Gypsy Jazz, French Musette, Cowboy Swing and Ragtime.  (Weather permitting, this performance will be held outside.)  

July 22  Billy Novick and Guy Van Duser - Guy’s innovative guitar-playing and Billy’s stylish clarinet and soprano sax performance combine to create the highly acclaimed sounds of this renowned duo.  Their multifaceted musicianship brings jazz, ragtime, blues and swing into their performances.  

July 29  Kate O’Connor - Irish, folk, pop, rhythm and blues are all part of the blend this multi-talented vocalist, songwriter and keyboardist weaves into her original songs.  

August   David Soyer and Friends - A special evening of chamber music, featuring cellist David Soyer and others from the Marlboro School of Music.  

September 9  Chanterelle - Joyous music of trio harmonies, beguiling songs in French and English, and virtuoso fiddling are hallmarks of this group, taking the listener on a musical tour of the French in America.   

September 16  Laura Wetzler - This award winning singer songwriter performs Contemporary Folk/Americana Originals and the Mid-east roots music of her childhood.  Come enjoy her clear rich vice and flair for storytelling. 

 September 23  Filmmakers at the Meetinghouse: Take 2 - To continue the celebration begun at the Second Annual North Quabbin Garlic & Arts Festival earlier this day, a selection of films from around the world about garlic will be shown.
